The Only Girl I Want
by Zech Thauer

As fiery as the midday sun she lets her golden hair shine
Her eyes are like the stars lighting up the room
When I first saw her all I could think was I want her as mine
And it’s as though our paths were destined to cross through fate’s loom

Oh how I long to sin and touch my lips to hers
Then touch our lips again and take my sin back
But to kiss her would go against the king and heir
Being with her makes me whole for the feeling of love is something I lack

Appealing to king and heir is of difficulties unknown
For if I confess my love of the king’s daughter from his kingdom I’ll be thrown
Yet from the heir I receive no trouble nor am I forced to toil
How it works out must depend on how well I prove myself a royal

But royals can believe themselves to be a god
Then God puts their delusions to rest with the rod
So at the risk of losing the king’s acceptance I shall stay humble
I’ll work myself until my hands bleed to see to it she does not stumble

In case of most boys the king wants them to prove themselves a man
And most kings wish the boy to have the ability to uphold good intentions
Other boys loved her beauty and when hardship came from the kingdoms they ran
So to prove myself to be able bodied I shall stand against great tensions

I may not be the strongest or fastest but I believe myself to be the best for her
I will stand tall and through all times I will stand and deliver
Happiness and a life of peace to her is what I shall bring
And I will ensure I am the one to do just that with a ring
